What is a Netherlands take home salary calculator?
It estimates how much of your gross pay you keep each month after Box 1 income tax, after applying the algemene heffingskorting (general tax credit) and arbeidskorting (employment tax credit). It is a planning tool, not a substitute for your payslip or Belastingdienst.
Which tax year does this use?
Tax year 2026, verified directly against Belastingdienst for Box 1 brackets, algemene heffingskorting, and arbeidskorting. Single filers only — fiscal partner joint assessment is not yet modeled.
How is Box 1 income tax calculated?
35.75% up to €38,883, 37.56% up to €78,426, 49.50% above that. Bracket 1's rate already includes national insurance contributions. The general tax credit and employment tax credit then reduce the tax owed.
What is the 30% ruling?
A tax facility for qualifying incoming employees: up to 30% of gross salary is paid as a tax-free allowance. Two ceilings are modeled here, both from Belastingdienst: the allowance stops at €78,600 a year (reached at a €262,000 salary), and your remaining taxable salary must stay above the expertise income norm — €48,013, or €36,497 if you are under 30 with a recognized master's, which is what the second switch is for. Below the norm the ruling cannot apply at all. The non-salary conditions (nationality, prior residence, the 150km rule) are not checked here, and from 1 January 2027 the percentage drops to 27% — confirm with Belastingdienst or your employer.
What does the holiday allowance toggle do?
Vakantiegeld is a statutory 8% holiday allowance, usually paid as a lump sum in May. If your quoted salary already includes it, leave the toggle checked. If your salary is a base amount with vakantiegeld paid on top, uncheck it.
Is this official Belastingdienst advice?
No. In-Hand.net is an independent calculator for education and planning. Fiscal partner joint assessment, pension contributions, and health insurance premiums are not modeled. Always confirm with Belastingdienst or a qualified tax adviser before making decisions.
