Why we built this

Most paycheck calculators are either buried in ads, out of date on tax brackets, or built for one narrow case (a single state, a single tax year). We wanted something simpler: enter your gross salary, pick your state or country, and get a number that's close to what actually lands in your bank account — for the current tax year, kept up to date as rates change.

In-Hand started as an India-focused salary calculator (in-hand.in), built by Rohit Nigam, an ex-Meta engineer who spent years working across India, North America and Europe and got tired of stitching together spreadsheets and out-of-date blog posts to answer a simple question: "what will I actually take home?" In-Hand.net extends the same calculator — and the same accuracy bar — to 9 more countries.

Our methodology

Every calculation is built directly from official tax-authority rules for the current tax year — the ATO for Australia, the CRA and Revenu Québec for Canada, §32a EStG (gesetze-im-internet.de) for Germany, Revenue.ie for Ireland, Belastingdienst for the Netherlands, IRD for New Zealand, IRAS and the CPF Board for Singapore, HMRC for the United Kingdom, and the IRS and state revenue departments for the United States — not from third-party estimates. We publish the bracket-by-bracket logic in code, cover it with automated tests, and cross-check results against a handful of real salary levels before shipping any change. Tax rules change every year; we track official updates and refresh the calculator as soon as new figures are confirmed.

That said, this is a planning tool, not a substitute for your actual payslip, your employer's payroll system, or a licensed tax professional. Your exact numbers can differ based on your tax code, filing status, benefits, and payroll timing.

Our privacy commitment

In-Hand is free and ad-free — we don't sell your data, and we don't run third-party ad trackers. We collect the minimum needed to run the calculator and understand aggregate usage (see our Privacy Policy for the full details, specific to your country).
